What’s the Difference Between a Curly Cut and a Traditional Haircut?
Curly hair has its own unique movement, texture and personality, so it deserves a completely different approach to cutting.
A traditional haircut is usually performed on wet hair, with the stylist creating a shape that works while the hair is straightened by the weight of the water. Once curly hair dries, it naturally springs back into its curl pattern, often resulting in uneven lengths, unwanted bulk or a shape that doesn’t complement your natural curls.
A curl-by-curl haircut is designed specifically for naturally curly, wavy and coily hair. Each curl is cut in its natural resting position, allowing us to see exactly how it behaves. This creates a beautifully balanced shape, removes weight where needed and enhances your curl pattern rather than fighting against it.
At House of Hinton Hair Design, we specialise in curl-by-curl cutting because no two curls are the same. We take the time to understand your unique curl pattern, density and lifestyle, creating a bespoke cut that works with your natural texture. The result is healthier-looking curls, improved definition, easier styling and a shape that grows out beautifully between appointments.
Whether you’re embracing your natural curls for the first time or looking for a stylist who truly understands textured hair, our specialist approach is designed to help you fall in love with your curls.
